Letter: Go-slow signage needed along treacherous route

Concerning the tragic June 18 car crash on Pali Highway that killed a young driver, we know the major cause of the accident: the highway’s design and layout (“Teen crash victim identified, remembered by family,” Star-Advertiser, June 21). As the broad highway goes from Honolulu toward the mountain tunnels, the road is nice and easy, creating driver complacency. Then, suddenly, after the car exits the tunnels on its way into Kailua, everything is different. Immediate sharp curves in the road combine with downward elevation. Road conditions become challenging, especially for young, inexperienced drivers.
