Letter: Hawaii has history of poorly executed evacuations

I can’t recall the event that triggered Oahu traffic gridlock some 20 years ago, but I remember it was a school day. I had just picked up my three kids and was trying to return to our home in Halawa. The H-1 was gridlocked near the airport to Aiea, so I decided to take Nimitz Highway, but hit more traffic.
