Letter: HECO needs scheduled underground upkeep

After a power outage, I submitted a claim to Hawaiian Electric. Its denial said in part: “our underground equipment does not have a regular maintenance schedule. This equipment can malfunction for a number of different reasons. Because we do not have a maintenance schedule, the fault is unforeseeable and thereby not something that the Company can control through the exercise of reasonable diligence and care.”
