Reading the latest reports from Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Florida elected officials regarding the “Alligator Alcatraz,” I never thought I’d see the day where U.S. taxes support inhumanity (lights on 24/7; tight crowding; sinks attached to toilets; etc.). The White House states the detainees are all violent criminals, but various sources — HRW and the Cato Institute, for instance — estimate a vast majority have no criminal record, other than their incomplete citizenship status, pending immigration courts.
