Letter: Inoperable emergency sirens are inexcusable

It is outrageous that 92 of Hawaii’s 418 tsunami sirens are broken — 22% or more than 1 in 5 (“State working to improve tsunami reaction protocol,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 29). There is no excuse for allowing such a critical safeguard to fall into disrepair.
