Letter: Lower national deficit is unifying political issue

I truly believe that most Democrats, Republicans and voters in general are constantly avoiding the realities of the state of the union, specifically the national deficit crisis. No matter who gets into political power, the national deficit will not go away because the debt ceiling always rises to keep pace with overspending beyond political budgets.
