Letter: Making memories at UH vs. Air Force game

We went to the University of Hawaii vs. Air Force game in Colorado — UH wins! But the real winners were our memories: memory of 58 Hawaii fans who shared stories and snacks on the bus; memory of the Air Force clerk who said, “I trust you,” when my husband with his VA card disappeared at the check-out line; memory of the young Massachusetts cadet who graciously led us through the sports arena maze when we got lost; memory of Sgt. Love, who extended two hands to help up our kupuna bodies as we sat on the curb, in the shade, eating our hot dogs; memory of the many Air Force fans who wore their Hawaiian shirts and colorful outfits showing their love of Hawaii; and the memory of the lady at the exit who said “aloha” as we exited the gates.
