Letter: Public school teachers need money, not athletes

Our public school teachers need pay raises. Facilities need upgrades. University of Hawaii football coach Timmy Chang suggested he could use $300,000 in public funds to pay a player he refused to name. UH women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman said, “We’ve already lost six to 10 kids because we do not have the funding …” This statement, in the same article, failed to mention public school funding.
