Letter: Regime change is tricky, deadly business for U.S.

Regarding a recent letter in support of the U.S. extraction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro (“Venezuela operation a net positive for country,” Star-Advertiser, Jan. 13), the U.S. has not directly acknowledged that there were any civilian deaths in Venezuela during the extraction. However, independent sources have verified the deaths of at least three civilians, including an 80-year-old woman. Reports, as yet unverified, claim additional civilian casualties.
