Letter: Soaring diesel prices will put hurt on consumers

Gas prices are still rising, but more alarming is the price of diesel, which in some states jumped from $3.50 to $8 a gallon since March. Diesel is the lifeblood of the economy. Everything shipped across the country depends on diesel. Truckers are paying over $1,200 to fill up their 18-wheelers’ 150-gallon tanks for two days of driving, and farmers are paying $800 a day for their harvesters.
