Letter: State must not take on Maui highway widening

Maui County Council betrayed us by voting 5-4 to pass amendments to Bills 171 and 172, which in part determines the Honua‘ula developer’s responsibility to widen Piilani Highway. The estimated cost is $48 million, but judging by past projects like the state Department of Education’s overbudget roundabout, the final price could be much more.
