Letter: U.S. does not guarantee freedom from religion

Nowhere in any founding document, including the Constitution, is there a requirement for the “separation of church and state” (“Don’t impose religion of any ilk on Americans, Star-Advertiser, Letters, July 20). In a few short words, the First Amendment guarantees that Congress cannot legally establish a religion and by extension cannot prohibit freedom of worship.
