Letter: War reveals flaw in Hawaii’s reliance on fossil fuels

The development of local (not imported) sources of energy is vital for the survival of Hawaii, and there are more technologies than solar and battery. A letter writer claims that “the backup currently provided by Oahu’s fossil fuel generators is effectively endless” (“Solar battery tech not feasible for isle needs,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, July 8).
