In objection to Donald Trump’s portrayal of Somalis embroiled in the massive Minnesota fraud scandal as “garbage,” a recent contributor invoked the words of Emma Lazarus in an apparent attempt to paint the perpetrators as “tired, poor, huddled masses” unworthy of the presidents disdain (“Trump’s ‘garbage’ quips do not reflect U.S. values,” Star Advertiser, Letters, Dec. 11).
