Letter: World Cup games reflect a more violent world

Obviously, the game of soccer has changed dramatically in the last 50 years. Physical contact of any kind, accidental or on purpose, was always a penalty. A warning or a strike against a player for an unintentional foul was a mark against the player as a warning. Another violation, the player would incur a yellow card. Another violation or an intentional foul, the player would receive a red card. Further penalties would be decided by the league.
