But it’s already building a lot of excitement among students and the principal at a local school.
"The Descendants" was shot entirely in Hawaii, and a few scenes were done on campus at Mid-Pacific Institute, such as the softball field in this clip. The director also picked six people from the school to play small roles in the movie, and some even had a chance to say a line or two.
"My character’s name is Buzz and he’s just, the description is awkward teenager and I steal beer from George Clooney,” said Matt Reese, student at Mid-Pacific Institute.
"I am a fifth grade teacher named Mrs. Hayashi who has to tell Matt King, George Clooney’s role that he needs to take his daughter out of school,” said Grace Cruz, Mid-Pacific Institute High School Principal.
Taking part in a major Hollywood movie was exciting on its own. But in this case, the director is an Academy Award winner.
To top it all off, the students and the high school principal got to do a scene with George Clooney.
"He was like making jokes, he was a super cool guy, like, I had a conversation with him. It was sweet just to meet him,” said Esther Kang, student.
"He was like cracking jokes all the time so he lightened the mood the whole time,” said Reese.
The scenes were shot in March 2010.
More than a hundred people, just from the school tried out.
Those who made the cut had to go through three auditions.
"When I found out I was so happy it was like the best day of my life,” said Kang.
It’s a quite a boost for Kang, who wants to be an actress and Reese, who wants to be a film maker. As for Principal Cruz, she says she’s keeping her day job.
The movie will be released in November.
