Maui fire fighters battled a brushfire behind of Pomaikai Elementary School.
It happened around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. About a half acre was burned. Both lanes of Maui Parkway were closed. The Wailuku bound lane reopened at 1240 p.m. and both lanes open before 1 p.m. The fire was called under control after 12:30 p.m. and extinguished at 12:55 p.m.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
