Maui police disband unit led by officer accused of corruption

The Maui Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence Unit was shut down after its commander was charged in a federal corruption investigation with taking cash to set up cockfighting operations and protect sales of cocaine, methamphetamine and illegal aerial fireworks.
