MPD commander allegedly protected drug dealers, cockfighters for cash

The commander of the Maui Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence Unit is facing 20 years in federal prison after he allegedly took cash from criminals since 2019 to protect illegal firework sales, cocaine and methamphetamine marketing and cockfighting operations.
