The new Library Learning Commons at Windward Community College is the first green library in the UH system.
Some of the construction material from the previous building were recycled and used to build the circulation desk, benches, and the coffee shop. Officials say the new $25 million facility will serve as more than just a library.
"We’re looking forward to this as the intellectual center, the watering hole, the gathering place for the campus and the community for them to join us," Windward Community College Head Librarian Nancy Heu said.
Windward’s new Library Learning Commons is scheduled to open in the fall.
