Off the news: Carpio brings hands-on experience to BLNR

The lineup has shifted on the state Board of Land and Natural Resources, with Gov. Josh Green’s appointment of James (Jay) John Kamealoha Carpio of Wailuku for a term running through June 30, 2029. Carpio, who is Native Hawaiian, has worked as a rancher, fisherman and farmer. He’s also a co-founder of marine conservation-focused organizations Maui Nui Makai Network and The Limu Hui, and of the Wailuku Coastal Managed Makai Area.
