Off the news: Comment on Navy, NASA land leases

Even as the Army struggles with environmental impact statement (EIS) hurdles for renewing land leases with the state, the Navy is undergoing its own draft EIS process for the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai. Community meetings were recently held on the draft EIS, jointly issued by the Navy and NASA, for the state land leases where key training for U.S. defense weapons systems occur. The leases expire between 2027 and 2030.
