Off the news: Crackdown on game rooms good to see

New, tougher Oahu laws against game rooms are front of mind, as police persist in their crackdowns of the illegal dens. Not only do these sites violate anti-gambling laws, they also are hubs for other illegal activities such as robberies, gun violence and drug trafficking. In a raid Tuesday — the second illegal game room shutdown in Waianae within a month — police found 20 gambling machines, $3,615 in cash, and illegal drugs.
