Off the news: Cruise lines bite hand that feeds them

In 2026, cruise ship passengers are set to descend on Hawaii in numbers not seen since 2007, a crowd of half a million or more. And as of Jan. 1, the transient accommodations tax (TAT) and state’s new green fee will apply — unless cruise lines opposing the tax in federal court prevail.
