Off the news: Isles get whiff of cyclospora outbreak

Hawaii folks have been monitoring mainland news of the cyclospora gastrointestinal outbreak, as it spread across some 30 states though had not officially reached here. That situation changed this week, with the state Health Department confirming one recent case of a person who got sick from the infection that causes severe diarrhea. The patient was a visitor who got infected before arriving in the isles, health officials say, and the risk of cyclospora here remains low.
