Off the news: PUC expected to set increased energy rates

Energy rates seem headed for an increase — just how much will be set after a statewide series of Public Utilities Commission hearings starting Tuesday. Hawaiian Electric is seeking state approval to raise monthly rates — for a typical residential customer, up $11 on Oahu, Molokai and Lanai, $14 on Maui, and $15 on Hawaii island.
