Off the news: Reprieve for Hawaiian grants, for now

It’s good news that Native Hawaiian Education Program (NHEP) grant recipients can breathe easy for at least another year. U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz last week confirmed that the U.S. Department of Education will not follow through with a proposal to axe roughly $46 million in associated funds its budget. NHEP supports thousands of families through a range of education, workforce and family support initiatives.
