In a sign that Southwest Airlines is committing to competition for Hawaii fliers — and to a tiered ticketing model that ranges from no-frills “Basic” rides to “A-List Preferred” perks for frequent fliers and big spenders — the company announced last week that it’s setting up its first four premium lounges: in Honolulu; Austin, Texas; Baltimore; and Nashville, Tenn. The lounges are scheduled to open by the end of next year.
