Off the news: U.S. begins ‘third country’ deportations

A first group of 20 U.S. deportees was flown to Liberia on Thursday, but only 15 remained in the West African country: In an inauspicious start to the Trump administration plan, five refused to debark; they were flown to Equatorial Guinea and forced out there. None in this cohort have ties to either African country, where they were sent over the objections of immigrants’ rights defenders.
