On Politics: ‘Termite Palace,’ ‘Rust Palace’ counter lofty visions

Hawaii never had just an ordinary place to play ball; it was always a “palace.” The nickname, however, came with its own cynical local spin. First it was a “Termite Palace,” only to be replaced with the “Rust Palace” constructed as a 50,000-seat steel structure at the opening of Halawa Valley.
