I’ll never forget the first time I saw Kilauea erupting. It was 1975 and Kilauea Iki was bubbling and spurting lava. It was windy and pouring rain, but the sight of the orange lava in the crater below us was spellbinding. Fifty years later, I still recall it vividly.
