Safeway has issued an updated statement about our story about a Makiki couple who was arrested over a $5 sandwich.
Safeway says "it appears we may not have handled this matter in the best possible way and we are taking the situation seriously."
The couple had their three-year-old child taken into state custody after they were both arrested.
The family has been reunited.
