Using the Subaru Telescope on Mauna Kea, an international collaboration of astronomers led by scientists at Waseda University and Tohoku University of Japan have discovered an extraordinary quasar in the early universe that hosts one of the fastest-growing supermassive black holes known at this mass scale.
