State of emergency declared for Hawaii as Hurricane Kiko’s strength intensifies

Acting Gov. Sylvia Luke issued Friday an emergency proclamation declaring a state of emergency across Hawaii as Hurricane Kiko, now packing sustained winds near 140 mph with higher gusts, continues to intensify while moving closer to the Central Pacific basin.
