Fake news has reached such an epic peak that even local events are affected. During the recent tsunami scare, Mayor Rick Blangiardi added a pointed comment during one of his media briefings. In addition to the standard warnings about evacuating vulnerable areas and staying off the roads, the good mayor gave one more caution: “Stay off of social media,” he said. The message was clear. Beware of fake news during the crisis.
