About a year ago, web stewards around the world were somewhat surprised at the announcement that Secure Socket Layer Certificates, referred to as SSL certificates, would only be good for 199 days. The governing body dictated that this change take effect March 15, 2026. While this may seem like a technical issue that only IT nerds should care about, the reality is that this change will affect just about every website and the folks that use them.
