Michael Mizrachi, a 44-year-old professional poker player from Las Vegas, emerged from a starting field of 9,735 players to become the new World Series of Poker Main Event champion and take the first prize of $10 million. Mizrachi needed only 24 hands to oust the remaining three players on the final day of the tournament. That gave him his eighth championship bracelet and caps what most concede is the greatest WSOP run in history, after he also won this year’s Poker Players Championship for a record fourth time. Mizrachi’s victory makes it three straight wins in the Main Event for American players.
